V-Cat Trucking is a contract trucking company that supplies dump trucks and operators to local construction companies throughout middle Tennessee. They currently have 14 Freightliner 122SDs that travel anywhere between five to 75 miles to construction sites each day, and put in 10 to 12 hours of work.

Providing drivers with technologically advanced trucks designed with their comfort in mind and cutting-edge safety features is the first step to driver retention. Drivers play an important role in Real Cost of Ownership (RCO), so Freightliner made driver experience a priority when designing the Cascadia.

Funding of highway and public transportation system maintenance has shifted from the federal government to the states, causing a “devolution” of U.S. highways. As a result, necessary bridge and highway maintenance projects are delayed, state governments are making cuts to cover maintenance and new road projects, and state and local governments are implementing more tolls to help fund these projects.

Freightliner Trucks has launched a new version of its Team Run Smart website, an open online community that truckers can turn to for expertise on a variety of topics. With over 48,000 members, Freightliner has enhanced the website for an improved user experience, easier access to information, and additional content to assist owner-operators and fleet customers at becoming better at the business of trucking.

On September 25-28th, the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta will be hosting the first ever North American Commercial Vehicle (NACV) Show. Attendees can prepare to see an impressive display of on-highway and vocational trucks from Freightliner (Booth #1612).

While designing the Cascadia, Freightliner hosted two Tech Week events where top technicians in North America were given a sneak peek of the new truck and were asked to provide feedback on its serviceability. Their comments and input resulted in technician-friendly changes to the design of the Cascadia.

Working out of a truck can create roadblocks to healthy living. Typically, drivers don’t have set schedules, rely on truck stops for nourishment, and sit for long stretches of time. Over time, this could lead to various health problems, including weight gain, back pain, and lethargy.

Jeff Havela Trucking is a husband-and-wife logging team that operates on the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan. They average 60- to 150-mile runs hauling raw products from the woods to the mill, and after 22 years of driving other trucks, they made the switch to Freightliner.

Freightliner Trucks recently developed a 122SD Sleeper Auto Hauler in partnership with Fontaine Modification Company. This development was in response to a request for an integral sleeper design from Diversified Automotive, a committed Freightliner customer.
