Selecting the Right Options for Your Next Freightliner Truck Can Make Work Less of a Chore
Freightliner Trucks Severe Duty NewsletterTo meet customer option requirements with its M2 106, 108SD and 114SD work trucks, Freightliner Trucks has created literally thousands of option configurations so buyers can custom tailor their vehicles for specific applications. Selecting the right options can help improve productivity, while enhancing comfort, ergonomics and truck performance.
Freightliner dealers are able to discuss the wide range of options for vocational vehicles, covering everything from interior cab configurations to engine and powertrain options. Three of the most popular “bang-for-the-buck” options from Freightliner Trucks include:
- Tilt & Telescoping Steering Column. Work truck operators come in all shapes and sizes. Freightliner’s adjustable steering column helps them find that “just right” steering wheel position to improve comfort, control and productivity. This option includes a convenient foot-operated pedal that releases the column for free movement of the tilt and telescoping functions and locks down the desired position when released. This option, along with an air-suspended driver’s seat, can deliver a big return in driver comfort, satisfaction and retention.
- Wraparound-Style “Wing Dash.” Freightliner is the only truck manufacturer to offer a choice of a flat dash or wing dash on a broad range of class 5 to 8 work trucks. The standard flat dash provides the best passenger knee clearance, especially for applications which require the driver and two crew members in the cab. The curved wing dash creates a more ergonomic driver environment and places more accessories and switches within easy reach.
- Heated Windshield. The heated windshield featured in Freightliner Trucks is a very popular option for snow plows, or any truck that frequently operates in cold climates. In addition to seven strategically placed defroster vents, the heated windshield includes electric heat elements in the bottom portion of the windshield, which helps reduce snow and ice accumulation. In addition, the windshield wipers rest directly over the heat elements, which reduces wiper icing.
Freightliner Trucks dealers can provide additional details about these and other smart options that make the best work trucks on the road an even better choice to meet the demands of tough work environments.
