To keep up with a growing demand, the Nashville Fire Department recently added seven new Freightliner M2 106 ambulances to their fleet.

In recent years, the nature of calls for emergency assistance to the Nashville Fire Department has changed dramatically. Now 80 percent of the calls to 911 in the city are for medical emergencies as opposed to fires. This shift is a driving factor in the need for additional ambulances. The new ambulance chassis were sold by Neely Coble Company of Nashville, TN. With the increased number of ambulances in Nashville comes the need for crews to staff them. The Nashville Fire Department has created an additional 33 jobs for paramedics and first responders in the city.
