At the heart of Daimler Trucks North America LLC is the manufacturing process. The reputation of each vehicle brand hinges on the skill and workmanship of the company's manufacturing employees. Daimler Trucks North America LLC operates 10 major manufacturing plants throughout North America. Taking into account our affiliates including Detroit Diesel, we operate several other facilities including engine manufacturing and axle assembly plants. Approximately 80 percent of employees work in or support the manufacturing process.

Driving the manufacturing function is the DaimlerChrysler Production System, developed by Daimler and customized for Daimler Trucks North America with input from all disciplines of the organization at every plant. This system ensures high performance and continuous improvement in meeting manufacturing's core objectives: quality, cost, safety, delivery and employee morale.

Safety is the priority at every plant. Comprehensive safety and health practices emphasize accident prevention and ensure a safe working environment. A constant effort is made to understand the human factors in the production process and to institute changes that create an ever-safer workplace.

In an effort to increase productivity and quality, Daimler Trucks North America's plants incorporate some of the latest technology in commercial vehicle manufacturing. State-of-the-art automation such as paint robots and robotic welders help meet exacting standards. Sophisticated test equipment assures that vehicle electrical systems are consistent with specifications, and advanced information technology systems make certain that each customer request becomes part of the final vehicle.

The company's manufacturing plants represent a tremendous investment in machinery and technology but, in the end, trucks are built by people and they are the most important part of the process.
